This year Patriots 15th Annual Youth Summit ...is a two day event May 4th & 5th 2012.  The Youth Summit on Technology is a Patriots original and signature event. It is now attended by over 700 students and a growing number of parents.  We accept students from 5th grade through high school.  This year's THEME is "ON THE RIGHT ROAD TO STEM" Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

May 4th 12:00pm - 8:00pm  

This program provides an opportunity for parents, government, industry, K-12 teachers, guidance counselors, principals and colleges to come together to discuss:   

  • How do we encourage students
  • K-12 interest in STEM
  • Mentor college students to graduate with a STEM major 
  • Identify programs that the government and industry have to offer K-12 students
  • Organize government and industry programs for students
  • Strategic plan for a career in Cyber Security
  • Stem Roundtable Reception: 6:00pm - 8:00pm     

May 5th

7:30am - 4:00pm:  Welcome by Mickey L. Burnim, President of Bowie State University

STEM Exhibts/Government, Industry and Colleges.  Students will have the opportunity to talk to our government, industry and college partners.

Play On Black Inventors," Invention Connection"

How many Black Inventors can you name? 

Social Media/Jeopardy Competition

Our Jeopardy format competition which is always great fun will consist of 7 teams of three. The teams will answer questions on social media. Three weeks before the Summit, each team will be given 200 questions. Each member on the winning team will receive a laptop. Entrance fee is $40/per person. If you are interested in participating please contact Patriots 301/925-9350.   

Computer Building Competition 

Open to 4 members on a team 5th- 12th graders. Entrance fee is $40/per person. You can enter as a team or Patriots will assign you to a team. The team that builds their computer the fastest wins. Each member on the winning team will receive a laptop. You do not need to know how to build a computer.  Patriots will provide instructions to all participants in the workshop on the three preceding Saturdays before the competition. The workshops will be held on April 14th, 21st and 28th 10:00am-12:00pm at Computer Spot Technology, Inc. located at 9121 Piscataway Road, 1a, Clinton, MD 20735 (301) 839-8009.

Flight Simulations Competition:

Students will demonstrate their "piloting" skills for a panel of judges. The teams will also be required to prepare and present a research paper, brochure, poster-board, and presentation before judges in any of the following careers fields: aircraft design, jet mechanics, systems engineering, electrical engineering, human factors research, test piloting, search and rescue, air traffic control, airport management and space exploration.
