CLINTON, Md. (WUSA) -- Five children were injured after a large American Bull Dog followed them to a school bus stop and attacked them.

Prince George's County police officials say the dog attacked as the children were getting on the bus in the 12300 block of Winbrook Dr.

When police arrived on the scene, an officer killed the dog to protect the children.

"I think once he followed that kid on the school bus, and all the kids got excited and hollering, the excitement alone can actually send an animal into another mindset," said Prince George's County Animal Management Chief Rodney Taylor.

Four children were transported by ambulance to the hospital. A fifth child was driven the hospital by family.

Police are still looking for the dog's owner. They say the dog does not have a chip and neighbors say they haven't seen the dog before. It is described as an all white, full grown, American Bulldog.
