This story comes to us from the Prince George's County Police Department:

The 26th Annual Prince George’s County Public Safety Assistance Program helped over 2,600 needy families have a brighter holiday season by providing them with Christmas food baskets. “I am excited to work with other public safety agencies in order to provide for families during the holiday season,” said Acting Police Chief Mark Magaw.

This morning, Chief Magaw, other Prince George’s County Public Safety Officials, and Santa Claus visited Emerson House to personally distribute Christmas food baskets to senior residents.  They also visited Riverdale Elementary School to spread holiday cheer to some very excited students.  “We are living in tough economic times, where many citizens are unable to provide for their families.  This program allows those of us within the Public Safety Community to do our part to ensure this does not happen during the holiday season,” said Chief Magaw.

The Public Safety Assistance Program is a non-profit agency that includes the Prince George’s County Police Department, Prince George’s County Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department, Department of Corrections, Office of the Sheriff and Office of Homeland Security.
