OXON HILL, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 3-year-old who died after a car ran over him on the 600 block of Audrey Lane on Wednesday has been identified as Dominic Watkins, Jr. of Oxon Hill, according to Prince George's County Police.

Police say when they responded to investigate the report of a pedestrian accident in the 600 block of Audrey Lane on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. they found a three-year-old boy. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, say police.

Within New York City alone, the ASPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement Department investigates over 5,000 cases of animal cruelty each year; the animals vary from household pets to horses and livestock. However, most cases are never reported and the animal’s suffering goes unrecognized and without the necessary intervention. To assist in the protection of abused animals, the Guardians of Rescue organization steps in.

“It’s easy to overlook the many animals in distress, or to turn away from it,” Robert Misseri, president of Guardians of Rescue, stated. “We don’t do that. We work hard, with the support of those in the public, to help these animals in need, and we feel great doing it.”

Riderwood retirement community in Silver Spring, MD, is sharing the recipe to its award-winning Crab Soup that  will be served January 20 at a President Obama Inaugural Gala hosted by the Delaware, Maryland and New York State Societies of Washington, D.C. The Gala will be held at 7 p.m. at The Fairmont Hotel in Washington, D.C. The more than 300 invited guests will include elected officials, friends of the states, and guests from all corners of the globe. Riderwood chefs will serve the soup to attendees.
